museum / ecomuseum | LUNEL
the Prisons' Tower is a defensive structure built in the 11th century which was transformed into a prison in the 16th century till 1917.
More than 300 graffitis were performed using several techniques: drawings, personal messages from prisoners (portraits, numerous religious symbols, pornographic drawings, reed palm...).
Excavations have unearthed everyday items displayed now in the windows of the guard room: glasses, logs, jars, plates, shoes, pipes, dices, coins, buttons...
An original layout (visit with a flashlight...) makes the visits of the dungeons easier.
