industrial site | TOUR SUR ORB (LA)
The 19th century former lime factory located in La Tour sur Orb where the Larzac, the Salagou and the Orb mountains meet.
It comprises a quarry, the kiln itself and a centrifuge, but only the kiln is open to visitors. One of the last industrial lime kilns still existing in the Occitanie/Pyrénées-Méditerranée region, the building's original architecture gave it a proven, long-lasting strength. 'Lime Latour' was used in the construction of the railway line from Graissessac to Béziers. The site has been registered under Historic Monuments for its heritage value and its exemplary conservation.
