monument | VILLEVEYRAC

This classic gothic Cistercian abbey is situated at Villeveyrac. It was re-built in 1247 in order to house more monks, and then was converted for wine after the revolution.
You will be in awe of the cloister fountain as well as the purity of the chapter house with its magnificent ribbed vault.
The size of this majestic edifice makes the Valmagne Abbey one of the most prestigous attractions in the Languedoc, which is home for many cultural events.
Not to be missed:
- The Cloister Garden surrounding the charming fountain where the Cistercian monks could admire blue sky and some nice greenery.
- The Medieval Garden where the monks used to grow plants to feed themselves, cure illness and decorate the Virgin Mary altar.
