A masterpiece of Romanesc art in Saint Guilhem Le Désert, this sanctuary, built at the beginning of the IXth century, is one of the most important spiritual and cultural centres of the Languedoc, benefitting over the centuries from the fame of the Saint who built it and the presence of treasures which lay within. Today, this abbey is listed as World Heritage by Unesco, as a stage on the path to Saint James of Compostella.
