museum / ecomuseum | LOUPIAN
Close to the Thau lagoon, this museum is a rare French example of a Gallo-Roman villa 'in situ'. The history and functioning of this agricultural estate are presented in two rooms which exhibit archaeological objects and models. The visit to this protected site continues with a viewing of coloured mosaics, common to 5th century villas of this size. The site is an excellent representative of the big 'villae' based on agriculture that were present throughout the countryside of the Roman Empire.
